PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Crocup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roddy Bowes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Crocup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roddy Bowes!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crocup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bowes is fending him off so far but Crocup persists. Nope, Bowes circles away and we're back to standing.

Bowes clinches up with Crocup and pushes him back against the cage.

Bowes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Crocup working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bowes.
Bowes throws and elbow that misses. Crocup uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bowes's guard. Nice move by Crocup!
Bowes trying to strike off his back.
Crocup working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bowes's head.
Bowes trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Crocup stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bowes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bowes will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Crocup tries to free his leg and advance position but Bowes is retaining full guard.
Crocup has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Both fighters circling a little - Crocup finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Crocup keeps the fight on the outside.

Crocup darts in and clinches Bowes up against the cage.

Crocup manages to pull guard.
Crocup can't keep his opponent in guard - Bowes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Crocup pushes Bowes off looking to stand but Bowes dives back in and keeps control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bowes uses his free foot to push down on Crocup's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Crocup.
Crocup wants to control but Bowes is having none of it.
Bowes prevents Crocup from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BOOM! Bowes connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bowes breaks from Crocup's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Crocup is rocked!
Crocup is breathing heavily.
Crocup taking shots to the head.
Oh Crocup is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bowes lands a big elbow - Crocup is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Crocup is forced to tap out!
