Smith's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Smoke the Fire. Johnny Smith has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dirt McGirt!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGirt scores with a sloppy right hand. Smith should have avoided that one.

Smith rushes McGirt and presses him up against the cage.
A shot in the inside from McGirt.
Smith utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, McGirt creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
McGirt lands an elbow just above Smith 's eye.
Smith is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Smith putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has McGirt in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Smith tries to circle away but McGirt has him pinned against the cage.
McGirt lands with a left to the head.
Smith tries to break free but McGirt pushes him back against the cage.
Smith tries a body shot but McGirt blocks it.

McGirt breaks from the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch but McGirt is having none of it.
McGirt stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGirt stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGirt feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
McGirt darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
McGirt keeps the fight on the outside.
McGirt scores with a hook.
McGirt lands a lovely overhand right.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but McGirt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Dirt McGirt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith tries to clinch up.
Smith takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Smith ducks right into an uppercut from McGirt.
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McGirt keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith closes the distance but McGirt moves to the side
and McGirt counters with a nice uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A combination from Smith does no damage.
McGirt ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jab, jab by McGirt - just one landing.
Smith tries to clinch up.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
McGirt scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
McGirt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Smith ducks right into an uppercut from McGirt.
Smith takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Nice straight punches there by McGirt. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McGirt.
McGirt connects with a good right hand that stumbles Smith. Smith circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Smith walks into a left hand.


Smith is rocked!
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McGirt.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McGirt throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McGirt.
Smith blocks a jab.
McGirt scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Smith doesn't seem bothered though.
Smith seems to have got his legs back now.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
Jab from McGirt.
Smith throws a leg kick
and McGirt counters with a huge left! Smith is in big trouble! He's backing up but McGirt isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Smith from any more damage. A dominating finish by McGirt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dirt McGirt!
A very excited looking Dirt McGirt made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
