PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Macedo Soares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Nolter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macedo Soares shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nolter's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Macedo Soares wants to control from the top but Nolter keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nolter pulls Macedo Soares in close to prevent any damage.

Nolter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Macedo Soares defends well.
Macedo Soares is fighting to break Nolter's control of his arms but Nolter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Nolter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Macedo Soares gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Macedo Soares will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nolter wants to sweep but no luck.

Macedo Soares slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Leonardo Macedo Soares has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Nolter shoots in but no luck this time.

and Nolter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Macedo Soares's guard now.

Nolter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Macedo Soares manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nolter has Macedo Soares in his guard.

Nolter has his foot on Macedo Soares's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Macedo Soares works his way back into a safe position though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nolter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Macedo Soares is looking to escape.

Nolter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nolter lands a nice short elbow.
Nolter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Macedo Soares srikes from the bottom but he's lost position and has given up his back.
Macedo Soares is trying to get back to his feet but Nolter has full control of the position and if anything, Macedo Soares has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Nolter is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Macedo Soares is defending well though. Nolter let's go of the attempt for now.

Nolter is working for a rear naked choke. Macedo Soares is not defending it well and Nolter has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Macedo Soares refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Macedo Soares's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
