Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between IP Freely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sap De Aardwortel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, IP Freely!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sap De Aardwortel!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Aardwortel slaps away a takedown attempt from Freely, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Freely looks to clinch

and De Aardwortel moves into the clinch.
Freely wants a takedown.
Freely is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables De Aardwortel to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for IP Freely. That's going to take a lot out of him.

De Aardwortel has clasped his hands together around Freely's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
De Aardwortel is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Freely's shoulder. That is not cool.
Freely wants to control but De Aardwortel postures up.
Freely trying to remain calm as De Aardwortel controls from the top position.
De Aardwortel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Freely. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ground and pound from De Aardwortel seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Freely is looking to reverse the position.
De Aardwortel moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Freely's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

De Aardwortel gets caught flat footed, as Freely shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Freely looking to sit in guard and control but De Aardwortel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Freely looking for a sweep. Not yet Freely, not yet.

Freely might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Freely working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Aardwortel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De Aardwortel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Freely utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Freely escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. De Aardwortel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
De Aardwortel is in close to Freely's body, working some short punches and elbows.
De Aardwortel throws a big right hand that misses.

De Aardwortel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Freely is trying to control the position but De Aardwortel postures up.
De Aardwortel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Freely is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sap De Aardwortel.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. De Aardwortel lands a nice short elbow.
De Aardwortel seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
De Aardwortel's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freely misses with a takedown

and De Aardwortel holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Freely fails to pull guard.
Freely tries for a takedown. No joy.

De Aardwortel works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Freely can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as De Aardwortel controls the pace.
Freely lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for De Aardwortel!
Sap De Aardwortel has got the better of the ground game so far.
Freely tries to control but De Aardwortel wriggling away.

Freely pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
De Aardwortel regains half guard.
Freely is pressing down on De Aardwortel's thigh, looking to free his foot. De Aardwortel is holding on for now.
De Aardwortel is trying to control but can't.
Freely missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Freely uses his free foot to push down on De Aardwortel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for De Aardwortel.

BOOM! Freely connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Freely is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but De Aardwortel is surviving well by controlling Freely's body position as best he can.
Freely avoids the attempt from De Aardwortel to control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Freely thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Freely prevents De Aardwortel from getting the reversal.
Freely takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Aardwortel can do anything to dispel that myth.
De Aardwortel sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
De Aardwortel wants to control the action here but instead Freely manages to pass to full mount!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Aardwortel is wriggling around trying to escape.

Freely cracks De Aardwortel with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Freely wants to control the pace but De Aardwortel is squirming around nicely.

Freely is going oldschool here, as he tries to force De Aardwortel to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so De Aardwortel shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

IP Freely dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


De Aardwortel swats away the attempt to clinch by Freely.
Freely shoots for a double leg takedown but De Aardwortel sprawls well. He's pushed Freely's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Freely stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Freely wants it to stay on the feet.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Freely shoots in for a takedown but De Aardwortel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

De Aardwortel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sap De Aardwortel was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Freely fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Freely shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts De Aardwortel as he jumps to the side.

Freely fails to pull the fight into his guard.
De Aardwortel on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
De Aardwortel is looking to take this one to the mat.
Freely has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. De Aardwortel avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sap De Aardwortel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think De Aardwortel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
