Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Sutter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Dempsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Sutter!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sutter scores with a nice right hand.
Dempsey looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dempsey enables Sutter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dempsey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dempsey tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sutter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dempsey on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dempsey tries to get out of the position.
Sutter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dempsey keeps working.

Sutter slips a nice elbow through Dempsey's hands, connecting with Dempsey's forehead.

Sutter working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Sutter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dempsey avoids it really well and circles away.

and Dempsey counters with a series of strikes. Sutter will be more careful next time no doubt.

Sutter lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Horrible takedown by Sutter or perhaps it was just good defense by Dempsey which made him look bad.
Mark Dempsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Sutter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sutter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sutter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Dempsey pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sutter is keeping the position for now.
Dempsey wants to control from the top but Sutter keeps moving.
Sutter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sutter keeps the fight on the outside.

Mark Sutter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Sutter bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dempsey's head backwards.

Sutter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Dempsey wants to control but Sutter is keeping busy.
Sutter winds up and cracks Dempsey with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sutter thows a huge punch but Dempsey dodges it nicely.

Sutter lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Dempsey quite badly. Dempsey pulls Sutter in close trying to recover. Sutter postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Dempsey on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Dempsey doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Sutter!
During a confident post fight interview, Mark Sutter thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
