PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Meat Truck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Smiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Meat Truck!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smiff feints and as Truck raises his hands in defense, Smiff changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smiff wants to stand but Truck is controlling his posture from full guard.
Smiff wants to control from the top but Truck keeps moving.
Smiff stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Truck swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Truck keeping moving, preventing Smiff from controlling successfully.
Smiff is looking to stand up but Truck won't let him.
Truck working a defensive guard here.
Truck thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Truck manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Truck thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Truck trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Truck controlling the position easily from mount.
Truck unloads with some shots from mount but Smiff bucks and avoids them well.
Smiff working to try and regain half guard.

Truck jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smiff manages to avoid the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smiff struggling a bit here.
Truck trying to control the action but Smiff is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Truck ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smiff moves away.
Truck takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Smiff instigates a clinch.
Truck jumps guard but Smiff stands there with Truck around his waist. Truck gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Truck tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Smiff has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Truck is trying to keep an underhook but Smiff manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Truck wants to control but Smiff is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smiff decides to stand up.
Truck goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Smiff looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Smiff wants to pass to mount but Truck is defending the position.
Smiff is breathing heavily.
Truck slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Smiff is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Smiff has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Smiff working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Truck has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Smiff off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Smiff clinches with his opponent.
Smiff avoiding damage.
Smiff keeps control of Truck as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A bit of stalling here from Smiff.
Smiff lands a right hand.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Smiff takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Smiff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smiff shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown by Smiff or perhaps it was just good defense by Truck which made him look bad.
Truck swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Smiff decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Truck is rocked!
Smiff landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Truck is still on wobbly legs! Can Smiff finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smiff content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Smiff dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smiff closes the distance looking for a takedown. Truck stuffs it but Smiff still has hold of him. Smiff picks Truck up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Smiff slams Truck to the floor and that's really hurt Truck - he doesn't know where he is! Smiff throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Smiff!
