Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields throws a wild body kick that Gomez sees coming a mile off.
Shields shoots and misses
and Gomez counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Horrible takedown by Shields or perhaps it was just good defense by Gomez which made him look bad.
Gomez's corner calls for a 1-2. Gomez obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Shields tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Shields closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gomez to the mat! Gomez manages to get full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Gomez has his foot on Shields's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shields works his way back into a safe position though.
Gomez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jose Gomez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Shields tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gomez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Gomez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shields tries to get to full guard but Gomez has control of the leg.
Gomez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Well Gomez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
