The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Veiwus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Decimus looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Decimus tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Veiwus wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Veiwus wants to control but Decimus is keeping him busy.
Veiwus should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Decimus manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Veiwus. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Veiwus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Veiwus gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Decimus is fighting off a takedown attempt but Veiwus is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Decimus to the mat. Decimus regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Decimus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Veiwus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Promos Veiwus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Veiwus wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Veiwus is on top in guard.
Veiwus prevents Decimus from getting back to his feet.
Dave Decimus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Decimus throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
