Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paulo Fontana!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Starks!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Starks throws a head kick that misses.
Fontana lands a head shot.
Fontana throws a nice looking combination but Starks bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fontana jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Andy Starks has been cut.
Fontana misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Starks softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Fontana tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Starks smiles and moves away.
Fontana uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Starks has time to react.
Fontana fails to land the takedown.
Fontana looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fontana bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Starks's head backwards.
A combination from Fontana does no damage.
Fontana will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fontana looks to land a combination but Starks avoids it well.
Fontana fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Starks knocks Fontana to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

It looks like Paulo Fontana has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Starks scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Fontana to see if he's OK.
Oh Fontana is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fontana tries to bench press Starks off him but Starks keeps the position.
Fontana seems to have got his legs back now.

Starks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fontana, who protects the arm well.

Fontana is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Starks is working Fontana over with some ground and pound from side control.

Fontana is looking to reverse the position.
Starks in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Fontana gets back to half guard.

Starks lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Fontana is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Starks scores with a couple of nice shots.

Starks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fontana is just riding it out for now. Starks eventually gives up the hold.

Fontana wants to get back to full guard.
Fontana looks like he's trying to stand up.

Starks trying to mount his opponent but Fontana defends it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Starks dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Fontana's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fontana, as that shot connected.
Starks avoids the body shot from Fontana.
Starks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fontana looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Starks gets the takedown into side control.
Fontana tries to improve position but can't.
Fontana manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Fontana wants to work for an arm triangle but Starks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Starks manages to get to full guard.
Starks has a closed guard, preventing Fontana from standing up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Starks is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Fontana has his hands clasped together but Starks extends an breaks Fontana's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Starks.
