Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Chaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dallas Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Chaney!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dallas Riley!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Riley lands but Chaney takes it in his stride.

Riley looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Chaney!
Chaney is trying to get back to his feet.
Chaney is looking to regain half guard here but Riley keeps moving and retains side control.
Riley taking a breather here.
Chaney takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Riley has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Chaney!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Riley cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chaney is squirming around, avoiding Riley's attempts to control the action.
Riley looking to control and managing it successfully.

Riley looking to ground and pound but Chaney is blocking nicely.
Poor strikes thrown by Riley there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Chaney tries to hold on but Riley postures up.

Riley jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chaney is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chaney and Riley has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Riley is staying tight to Chaney's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Riley taking a break here but Chaney is having none of it and regains half guard.
Chaney has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Riley is working away from the top position though.

Riley wants to pass the guard but Chaney is defending well.
Chaney trying to get back to full guard but Riley takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Riley is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Chaney crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Riley - the referee stops the clock and Chaney gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Riley. Chaney manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
No joy there for Riley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chaney.
Riley bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Riley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Riley showed some decent athleticism there.
Riley content to control rather than advance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dallas Riley dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Riley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Chaney is not content to let Riley control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chaney avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Riley.
Riley has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Riley prevents Chaney from getting the reversal.

Riley working for a guillotine from mount but Chaney is in no mood to give up.
Chaney is trying desperately to improve position.
Riley trying to control but Chaney is having none of it.

Riley lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Chaney hang on?
Riley cracks Chaney with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Chaney is squirming around, avoiding Riley's attempts to control the action.
Riley fails to take his opponent's back.
Chaney is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Chaney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Chaney keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Riley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chaney tries to hold on but Riley pushes him away.

Dallas Riley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Riley rushes Chaney and presses him up against the cage.
Riley lands a right hand.

Riley has picked Chaney up - he's going for a ride! Riley dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Riley is keen to just control but Chaney is a slippery customer.
Riley takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dallas Riley was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Riley with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Riley's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Riley duly obliges.
Chaney fails with the takedown.

Dallas Riley has got the better of the ground game so far.

Riley has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Riley shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Riley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Riley scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Riley winds up and cracks Chaney with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Chaney is trying to maintain the position but Riley is very close to passing his half guard.
Riley is controlling the pace.

Chaney looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Riley is fending him off so far but Chaney persists. Nope, Riley circles away and we're back to standing.
Chaney shoots for a double leg takedown but Riley sprawls well. He's pushed Chaney's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Riley throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chaney was covering up waiting for the punch and Riley finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Chaney pushes Riley off looking to stand but Riley dives back in and keeps control.
Still in half guard, Riley seems content to control.

Riley postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Chaney to stand up.
Chaney moves to clinch but Riley breaks away
and Riley counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Riley darts in and clinches Chaney up against the cage.

Riley prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Chaney. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Riley decides to pull guard.
Riley will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Riley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chaney can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Chaney moves in looking to clinch but Riley pushes him off.

Riley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Chaney's guard.

Riley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chaney keeps working.

Still in half guard, Riley seems content to control.

Riley gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Chaney tries to bum rush Riley with a series of wild strikes but Riley uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Riley looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Riley is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?
Chaney wants to control but Riley is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Chaney is not content to let Riley control the position.

Riley decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

A head kick by Chaney misses

and Riley counters by moving into the clinch.
Chaney drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chaney closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chaney lands in his opponent's guard.

Well Riley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
