PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez comes into the arena with Kill The Noise Pt. 1 blaring out of the sound system. Kingston has chosen 2pac - I'm Soulja as his entrance music. Nate Kingston acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingston lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Perez checks a leg kick.
Kingston throws a head kick that misses.
Kingston's corner calls for a 1-2. Kingston obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Perez fails with the takedown
and Kingston counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Perez shoots in but no luck this time.
Perez has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kingston scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Nate Kingston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kingston throws a right and a left that Perez avoids nicely.
Kingston stuffs the takedown attempt from Perez. Perez gets slowly back to his feet.

Perez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kingston moves away.
Nate Kingston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kingston dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Perez. That did some damage!

Kingston lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Perez circles away quickly and effectively.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Perez. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Kingston uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Perez.

Kingston throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kingston keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kingston bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Perez tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Perez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kingston looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Perez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kingston tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Perez wants to control but Kingston is keeping him busy.
Kingston is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Perez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Perez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kingston wants to control but Perez postures up.

Kingston regains half guard.
Kingston is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez trying to mount his opponent but Kingston defends it.
Kingston has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Perez is working away from the top position though.
Kingston is pressing down on Perez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kingston manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Perez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Perez tries to control the position but Kingston now has his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kingston scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
What can Perez do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Perez throws a right hand that Kingston ducks under and follows up with a left that Kingston also avoids with ease.

Nate Kingston is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kingston uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Perez has time to react.

Perez is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
