Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicolas Valenti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Smith!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails to land with a series of punches.
Smith throws a series of punches but Valenti avoids them all with ease.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smith throws a right and a left that Valenti avoids nicely.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Valenti shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smith napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Smith is working to avoid the ground and pound but Valenti connects with a decent elbow.
Valenti in side control lands a decent elbow.
Valenti decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smith to his feet.
Valenti clinches up with Smith and pushes him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith is trying to push Valenti away but Valenti has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Valenti has Smith pressed against the cage, preventing Smith from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Smith tries to throw a body punch but Valenti avoids it by throwing Smith back against the cage.
Valenti could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Valenti has him pressed against the cage.
Smith is trying to force a seperation but Valenti has the dominant position.
Valenti jumps into guard, dragging Smith to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Valenti is adopting a defensive guard.
Valenti tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Valenti has Smith pulled in close to control his posture.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Valenti bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.
Valenti has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smith is looking to stand up but Valenti isn't so interested in that idea.
Valenti is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Valenti has managed to sneak the leg through.
Valenti seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Valenti drops an elbow to the side of Smith's head.
Valenti slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valenti is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Smith is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Smith flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Valenti anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Smith and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Valenti slips an arm under Smith chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Valenti has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Valenti is squeezing on Smith like an anaconda would it's prey. Smith fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
