Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Marsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roger Marsden has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Billy Do's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roger Marsden!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nice shot by Marsden.
The fighters circling - Marsden throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Marsden moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Marsden fails to land with a series of punches.

Marsden shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Do napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Marsden misses with the ground and pound.
Do can't do much from the bottom here.

Marsden is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Do has escaped the position, nice work there.
Do gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Marsden seems to be working for a kimura but Do defends the submission attempt.

Do trying to hold on to Marsden's head to control him but Marsden postures up.
Do might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Do keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Marsden is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Do wants to control but Marsden is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Marsden is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Do is just riding it out for now. Marsden eventually gives up the hold.
Marsden thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Do's head.
Marsden prevents Do from improving his position.

Marsden is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Marsden sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Do defending well though.

Marsden working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Do's thigh. Do counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Marsden has gone for a leg lock! Do slips out almost immediately though and dives into Marsden's guard.

Marsden looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Do has picked Marsden up and slammed him! Marsden can't keep hold of the triangle and Do manages to pass to side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marsden takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The ground and pound from Do seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Marsden manages to work his way to half guard, despite Do's best efforts.
Do working the head and body with strikes.

Do is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Marsden actively working from the bottom here.
Do takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Marsden has hold of Do's hands but Do slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Do lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Do drops an elbow to the side of Marsden's head.
Do winds up and cracks Marsden with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marsden regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Do.

Marsden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Do doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Do manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Billy Do will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Marsden connects with a right hand. Do shakes it off.
Good exchange - Marsden coming out on top.
Do shoots in for a takedown but Marsden shows good takedown defense.
Do uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Marsden.
Marsden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Do.
Do looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Do explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Do is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Do tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marsden swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marsden ducks under a wild hook from Do.
Marsden works the jab nicely.

Marsden just misses with a punch to the body.

Marsden checks the leg kick nicely there.
Do throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marsden is defended easily by Do.

Do closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Marsden quickly recovers to half guard.
Do not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Do trying to control from half guard but Marsden is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Do looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marsden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nice strikes from Do there.
Do working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Do is trying to control the action in half guard but Marsden is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Do working over Marsden with some ground and pound. Marsden looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Do not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Do misses with a head shot. Marsden uses the momentum to regain guard.
Do loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Do working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Marsden working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Do.

Do wants to control from the top but Marsden keeps moving.

Billy Do overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Do accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Do has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Do lands with a nice combination. Marsden backs away looking to recover.
Do throws the left hand but Marsden avoids the punch easily.
Do wants to clinch up but Marsden keeps it at a distance.
Marsden has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Marsden moves away from the strike by Do.
Do throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Marsden sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Do slips under a jab from Marsden.
Marsden throws a lazy right hand but Do sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Marsden swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Do thuds his right hand into Marsden's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Do misses with a body shot.
Marsden throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Do throws a sloppy head kick and Marsden moves out of range easily.
Marsden just misses with a punch to the body.
Marsden is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Do throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Do lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Do ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Marsden moves away.

Do shoots in looking for a takedown. Marsden tries to sprawl out of it but Do keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marsden manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Billy Do is winning the standup battle so far.

Marsden on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Do changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marsden tries to avoid it but Do manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marsden to the ground. Marsden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Marsden fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Marsden shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Do is trying to defend but Marsden finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

A very excited looking Roger Marsden made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
