The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riddick misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Riddick looks for a takedown but Marella sprawls well.

Marella drives through and clinches with Riddick against the cage.

Marella manages to break the clinch.

and Marella counters by clinching up.
Riddick tries to circle away but Marella has him pinned against the cage.

Marella throws a combination that misses
and Riddick counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Riddick moves to clinch but Marella breaks away

and Marella holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Marella lands a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Marella wants to stand but Riddick has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Riddick is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Marella distracts Riddick with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Marella postures up in Riddick's guard and throws a big left but Riddick blocks it.

Marella wants to pass the guard but Riddick is keeping the position.

Marella is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Marella is looking to work some ground and pound but Riddick has wrist control.

Marella tries to pass to full mount but Riddick defends it.
Marella wants to control but Riddick is keeping him busy.
Marella is nestled in close to Riddick, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Riddick is not content to let Marella control the position.
Marella lands strikes from half guard.
Marella scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Marella is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
