Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dark Bori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Slater!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slater misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Slater feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bori wants to sweep here but Slater controlling him for the moment.
Bori is working hard here to advance position.

Let's hope that Slater has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slater's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tom Slater.

Bori tries to sprawl but Slater drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bori is breathing heavily.

Slater is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Slater lands strikes from half guard.
Bori wants to get back to full guard.
Slater working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Slater lands with a punch from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slater drops an elbow to the side of Bori's head.

Still in half guard, Slater seems content to control.
Slater working over Bori with some ground and pound. Bori looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

It looks like Slater might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Slater slips a nice elbow through Bori's hands, connecting with Bori's forehead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Slater looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Slater winds up and cracks Bori with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Slater connects with a nice short shot to Bori's temple.
Slater with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Slater looks to score some points with some ground and pound.


Bori is rocked!

Slater is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Oh Bori is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bori taking some punishment here, with Slater in his half guard.
Slater lands a big elbow - Bori is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Slater!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Slater!
A determined Tom Slater didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
