PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilson has chosen The Last Dragon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Don Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson misses with a lunging right hand
and Allen counters with a slapping leg kick.

Allen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wilson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wilson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilson postures up in Allen's guard and throws a big left but Allen blocks it.
Wilson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Allen's head.
Wilson throwing strikes from guard but Allen blocks nicely.
Wilson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wilson is looking to work some ground and pound but Allen has wrist control.
Wilson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wilson throws a big right hand that misses.
Wilson postures up in Allen's guard and throws a big left but Allen blocks it.

Allen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wilson postures up and lands a big shot to Allen's brow.
Wilson throws a big elbow that misses.
Allen tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilson throws a strike but Allen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Wilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Allen is one step ahead there.

Wilson controls Allen momentarily but Allen frees himself.
Wilson wants to sweep here but Allen controlling him for the moment.

Don Wilson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Wilson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Allen swivels and escapes.
Wilson has a takedown stuffed.
Allen wants to slow Wilson down by chopping away at his legs.
Allen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Wilson checks a leg kick.
Wilson shoots for a takedown but Allen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Barry Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Wilson.

Allen throws a low kick, looking for Wilson's leg but Wilson calmly moves out of range.
Wilson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Allen slips a straight right by Wilson.
A solid leg kick lands there for Allen.
Wilson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Allen to score with a decent uppercut.
Wilson throws a hook but Allen avoids it easily.
Allen throws a leg kick but Wilson checks it.
Wilson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Allen circles away.
Wilson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Allen momentarily.
Allen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Allen throws a body kick that misses.
Wilson shoots in for a double leg but Allen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A telegraphed right hand from Wilson misses the target.
Allen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wilson has a takedown stuffed.
Wilson shoots in but Allen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Allen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Allen throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wilson. Allen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wilson shoots in looking for a takedown but Allen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wilson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Barry Allen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wilson checks the leg kick nicely there.
Wilson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Wilson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Allen.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Allen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Wilson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Allen thinking.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Allen.
Wilson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Barry Allen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wilson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Wilson throws a right and a left that Allen avoids nicely.
Wilson shoots in looking for a takedown. Allen tries to sprawl out of it but Wilson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Allen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Allen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Allen bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Allen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wilson.
Wilson misses the shot to the body.
Wilson tries to clinch up but Allen circles away and keeps his distance.
Allen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Some bone on bone action there as Wilson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Allen does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Wilson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wilson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Barry Allen is winning the standup battle so far.
Wilson takes a swing at Allen's ribcage but misses.

Allen is looking to chop away at Wilson's legs.
Allen wants to land a leg kick but Wilson is out of range.
Wilson throws a right and a left that Allen avoids nicely.
Allen jabs at Wilson's body.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Allen.
Allen moves out of range of the strikes.
Wilson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Barry Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Wilson.

Allen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wilson.
Wilson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Allen.
Wilson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Allen throws a front kick aimed at Wilson's knee but Wilson avoids it well.
Allen throws a head kick that half lands.

Wilson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Allen feints and then cracks Wilson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wilson down.
Wilson throws a lazy right hand but Allen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Wilson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Allen was well out of range. Poor timing from Wilson.
Allen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Wilson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wilson wants to clinch.
Wilson blocks a leg kick.
Wilson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Allen is fending him off so far but Wilson persists. Nope, Allen circles away and we're back to standing.
Allen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Wilson wants to clinch up but Allen keeps it at a distance.
Allen throws a front kick aimed at Wilson's knee but Wilson avoids it well.
Allen throws a head kick but Wilson moves out of range.
Allen lands with a shot to the body.
Allen misses with a leg kick.
Allen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wilson doesn't seem bothered though.
Wilson scores with a one two! Allen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Allen bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wilson's head.

Don Wilson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A slapping leg kick lands for Allen.
Allen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Allen cracks Wilson with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Wilson falls to his knees and Allen doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barry Allen!
Barry Allen seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
