Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Tyler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy James!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries a head kick but it misses.

James bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
James is staying tight to Tyler's torso, preventing him from escaping.

James goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Tyler rolls with the submission and now he's on top in James's guard! Nice work there by Tyler!
Tyler trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
Tyler throws a big right hand that misses.

Tyler throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyler stays in close to James's body and controls the position.
Tyler with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tyler throws a strike but James rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
James passes Tyler's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Tyler wants to get back to his feet.
Tyler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
James seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Tyler just wasn't active enough.

James gets a takedown into half guard.
James has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Tyler tries to reverse the position but James maintains control.
Tyler has given up his back here. Will James look for the submission or keep pounding away?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Tyler is staying active.
James is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

James regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Tyler.

James looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Tyler postures up in James's guard and throws a big left but James blocks it.

James wants to control but Tyler postures up.

Tyler sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but James is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Tyler wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.
James is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Tyler is trying to ground and pound but James uses the momentary lack of control by Tyler to regain half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as James holds on and takes a little breather.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Tyler dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


James throws a head kick that misses.
Tyler tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tyler blocks a leg kick.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Tyler which made him look bad.

Tyler closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Tyler wants to control for a moment but James uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Tyler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Tyler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tyler is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
James is concentrating on defense, preventing Tyler from advancing position.

Tyler is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
James controlling the position well.

Tyler thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.
James regains full guard. Nicely done.
James is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Tyler trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Tyler is looking to work some ground and pound but James has wrist control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

James has one of Tyler's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Tyler looking to control but instead James has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Tyler is just content to waste time from the top position. James takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
James is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Jake Tyler showed his dominance in that final round.
