The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Machado, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Machado will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ribeiro scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ribeiro prevents Machado from escaping the position.
Ribeiro lands a few punches from side control.

Ribeiro decides to stand back up. Ribeiro steps back and let's Machado get back to his feet.
Machado shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ribeiro eats them both and turns towards Machado to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Some wild striking there from Machado.

Ribeiro closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Machado's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ribeiro stands and throws Machado's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Machado is not content to let Ribeiro control the position.
Machado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ribeiro looking to control but instead Machado has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Machado is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ribeiro lands a nice short elbow.

Ribeiro is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Machado sees it coming and defends easily.
Ribeiro seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Machado does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ribeiro throwing shots but Machado is blocking nicely.
Machado wants to get back to his feet.
Ribeiro passes to full mount!
Machado tries to lock up and control but Ribeiro gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ribeiro lands with some strikes.
Ribeiro can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Machado is looking to escape.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Machado is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Machado in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Ribeiro trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Machado is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Machado is squirming around, avoiding Ribeiro's attempts to control the action.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ribeiro is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Machado is forced to tap! Great finish!
