Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Menezes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes into the arena with ZAO - the psalm of the city of the dead. blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Menezes defends it nicely.

Brooks drives through with a takedown into guard.

Menezes looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brooks is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Menezes sees it coming and defends easily.

Brooks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Brooks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Menezes is looking to escape.
Brooks uses his free foot to push down on Menezes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Menezes.

Brooks lands a big shot there that rocks Menezes but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Menezes is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brooks loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Menezes scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Brooks land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Brooks stands and salutes the crowd.
