The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferguson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Champ manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ferguson stays in close to Champ's body and controls the position.

Ferguson is looking to work some ground and pound but Champ has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ferguson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Champ can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ferguson is working to tighten is grip on Champ's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Champ has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ferguson is really squeezing tight and eventually Champ passes out! Ferguson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
