PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marc Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yugi Kantana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Munoz comes to the cage accompanied by Champions. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marc Munoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yugi Kantana!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kantana misses the shot to the body.
Munoz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Munoz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Kantana manages to get back to half guard.
Kantana is trying to stand up here but Munoz is controlling him well.
Munoz trying to control the pace.
Munoz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kantana defending well though.
Kantana moves into full guard.
Munoz trying to control the position from guard on top but Kantana is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Munoz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kantana has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Munoz has managed to get both his arms back between Kantana's legs - danger averted.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kantana wants to get back to his feet but Munoz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kantana kicks Munoz off and gets to his feet.
Munoz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kantana manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Munoz sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Kantana drives through with a takedown into Munoz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Munoz looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kantana puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Kantana seems to be working for a kimura but Munoz defends the submission attempt.

Kantana wants to work for an arm triangle but Munoz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kantana is just content to waste time from the top position. Munoz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kantana slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Kantana has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kantana wants to control from the top but Munoz keeps moving.
Kantana is standing up over Munoz. Munoz looks to escape but Kantana dives into side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Kantana.
Munoz dodges the ground and pound from Kantana.
Kantana misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kantana controlling the position from side mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Munoz can't do much from the bottom here.
Kantana working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kantana prevents Munoz from escaping the position.

Kantana is working to tighten is grip on Munoz's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Munoz has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Kantana is really squeezing tight and eventually Munoz passes out! Kantana breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Yugi Kantana!
Yugi Kantana very nearly forgot to thank L.A. Elite Clothing Co amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
