Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Measure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kobus Venter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kobus Venter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venter throws a right and a left that Measure avoids nicely.

Measure shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Measure showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Measure wants to pass the guard but Venter is defending well.
Measure seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Measure in particular looking to stall.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Venter can do anything to dispel that myth.

Measure creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Venter is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Patrick Measure overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Measure connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Venter some visible discomfort.

Venter takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Venter is breathing heavily.
Venter seems a little lost for a moment, as Measure dominates the positioning.
Measure scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Venter is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Measure can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
