Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Awa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Awa!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Awa scores with a jab to the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cain crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Awa - the referee stops the clock and Cain gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Awa. Cain manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Cain is trying hard to land a takedown here. Awa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Awa scores with a punch to the head.
Awa swats away the attempt to clinch by Cain.
Awa scores with a head kick. Cain tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jab, jab by Awa - just one landing.
Awa throws a leg kick which misses Cain's front leg but catches the back leg as Cain tries to avoid it.
Awa connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cain wants to clinch.
Awa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cain is trying hard to land a takedown here. Awa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Cain doesn't manage to clinch there - Awa circles away.
Cain throws a body punch but Awa moves out of range.
Ricardo Awa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Awa throws a series of punches but Cain avoids them all with ease.

Cain shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Awa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Cain wants to control from the top but Awa keeps moving.
Cain wants to pass the guard but Awa is keeping the position.
Awa controls Cain momentarily but Cain frees himself.
Cain stops Awa from standing up.
Awa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cain throws an elbow that misses. Awa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cain's guard. Nice move by Awa!

Awa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Cain is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Cain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Awa trying to control the position from guard on top but Cain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cain trying to keep a closed guard but Awa is proving a slippery customer.
Awa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Awa is fighting to break Cain's control of his arms but Cain is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Awa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cain slips a jab and a cross from Awa.
Cain avoids a punch combination nicely.
Awa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A head kick misses from Awa.
Cain dives in and grabs Awa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Awa pushes down on Cain's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Cain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Awa lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Awa throws a combination. Cain tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Cain tries to score a power double leg takedown but Awa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cain somewhat.

Cain takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Awa with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Awa closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Cain shoots in looking for a takedown. Awa tries to sprawl out of it but Cain keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Awa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cain tries to land a body kick
and Awa counters with a left and a right that stings Cain.
Awa scores with a jab to the body.
Cain shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Awa pinned against the cage. Awa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Awa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Awa misses with a two punch combination.
Awa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cain was well out of range. Poor timing from Awa.
Cain steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Awa. That one must have hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Cain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Awa misses with a series of wild punches.
Ricardo Awa seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Awa throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Cain.
Cain takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Awa throws the kick towards the body but Cain avoids it.
Awa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Awa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Awa throws a series of punches but Cain moves out of range.
Cain tries to clinch up but Awa circles away and keeps his distance.

Cain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Well, if Cain is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cain passes the guard and advances to mount!
Awa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Cain avoids the attempt from Awa to control.
BOOM! Cain connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Cain tries to push Awa's head away but Awa is holding on tight.
Awa working to try and regain half guard.
Awa tries to lock up and control but Cain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Awa is squirming around, avoiding Cain's attempts to control the action.
Awa squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cain wants to take his opponent's back but Awa doesn't allow it.
Cain postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Awa looks a forlorn figure.
Awa looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Cain is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Awa has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Cain has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Awa taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Cain doesn't care though - he's delighted!
