The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James clinches up against the cage.

James gets control of Dawkins's arms and successfully pulls guard. James will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James controls Dawkins momentarily but Dawkins frees himself.
Dawkins wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.

James trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

James is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
James controls Dawkins momentarily but Dawkins frees himself.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dawkins on the ground.

Dawkins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of James is proving hard to escape from.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

James shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dawkins's guard.

James is posturing up here but Dawkins has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! James tries to roll out but it's too tight and James has to tap! Slick submission there by Dawkins!
