Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Smitty Smithers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ewert Lauringer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smithers comes to the cage accompanied by Ironman - Black Sabbath. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lauringer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lauringer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smithers.
Smithers thows a body shot but no joy.
Smithers connects with a single shot there.
Lauringer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Smithers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lauringer throws out the jab.
Smithers looks to clinch
and Lauringer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Smithers fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Smithers drops his hands momentarily and Lauringer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Smithers shoots in for a takedown but Lauringer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Smithers wants to control but Lauringer is keeping him busy.
Smithers thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Smithers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Smithers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lauringer is trying to keep Smithers in close.
Smithers postures up in Lauringer's guard and throws a big left but Lauringer blocks it.

Smithers wants to control from the top but Lauringer keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smithers does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Smitty Smithers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lauringer takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Smithers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Smithers tries a head kick but it misses.
Smithers misses the shot to the body.
Lauringer thuds his right hand into Smithers's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Smithers tries to land a front kick but Lauringer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lauringer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smithers sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smithers throws a lazy right hand but Lauringer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lauringer looks to throw the jab but Smithers is out of range.
Smithers closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Smitty Smithers will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Oooooh!!! Lauringer has knocked Smithers down with a huge combo! Lauringer steps away and waves a wobbly Smithers back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Smitty Smithers has been cut.

Lauringer goes for a small jab and connects. Now Lauringer goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Smithers stumbles back but Lauringer runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Smithers to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Smithers will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
