Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Noir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noir kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pride. James has chosen Kid rock - Cowboy as his entrance music. Marshall Noir had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marshall Noir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron James!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Noir.
A decent looking body kick lands there for James.
Ron James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
James lands with a thumping leg kick.
Noir displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as James throws out the jab.
James throws a lazy uppercut
and Noir counters with a stiff right hand.
James misses with a shot to the body

and Noir counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Noir.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James is looking for a triangle but Noir pushes his legs off easily.

James trying to keep a closed guard but Noir is proving a slippery customer.

Noir wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Noir is one step ahead there.
James has momentary wrist control but Noir slips an elbow through the middle.
James has his hands on Noir's head, controlling the position.
James wants to get back to his feet but Noir passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Noir is thwarting James's attempts to control the position.
James is refusing to be controlled, as Noir sits in half guard.
Noir winds up and cracks James with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
James wants to control but Noir is keeping busy.
James tries to roll over but Noir keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Noir throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing James to regain full guard.
Noir sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James wants to sweep here but Noir controlling him for the moment.
Noir loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
James is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Noir looking to pass the guard.

Noir is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
James takes a swing at Noir's ribcage but misses.
Noir scoring well with a low kick there.
James throws a leg kick that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
James throws a nice outside leg kick.
James throws out a leg kick but Noir moves out of range and James only half commits.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marshall Noir will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


That kick from James tenderised Noir's leg. Noir is trying to keep his angry face on.

James throws a leg kick that is checked
and Noir counters with a thumping low kick.
A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target.
Noir lands with a thumping leg kick.
James cracks Noir with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Noir sprawls well. Noir wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
James dives in and grabs Noir's left leg, looking for a takedown. Noir pushes down on James's head and hops out.

James throws a leg kick that is checked

and Noir counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.
Noir is looking to work some ground and pound but James has wrist control.
James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet.
James can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Noir controls the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
James controls Noir momentarily but Noir frees himself.

Ron James has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
James swings away with a leg kick that misses.
James connects with an inside leg kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from James lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Noir has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Noir and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Noir sprawls well. Noir wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
Marshall Noir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ron James.
James throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Noir's waist but Noir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
James throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Noir counters with a nice low kick that buckles James's knee momentarily.
James slaps away a takedown attempt from Noir, before circling back to the center of the mat.
James takes a swing at Noir's ribcage but misses.
James misses with a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James scores with a spinning back kick!
James scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
James misses with a left hand
and Noir counters with a thumping low kick.
Noir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from James.
James throws an overhand right that lands on Noir's shoulder, as Noir tries to avoid the shot.
James throws out a leg kick but Noir moves out of range and James only half commits.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Noir was well out of range. Poor timing from James.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Noir takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Noir frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

James working to try and regain half guard.
James sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
James is not content to let Noir control the position.
James is looking for a sweep. Noir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

James has one foot on Noir's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Noir moves out of range of the body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James misses with a body punch

and Noir counters with a single leg into guard. James didn't expect that.
Noir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Noir trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Marshall Noir just wasn't active enough.

James throws a low kick but Noir moves out of range easily.
James fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Noir on the side of the head.
Noir takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
James throws a leg kick but Noir checks it.
James throws a leg kick
and Noir counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

James throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
James scores with a kick to the midsection.
James throws a body punch but Noir moves out of range.
Noir avoids the body shot from James.
James closes the distance but Noir moves to the side
and Noir counters with a leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Noir is out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marshall Noir.
I think Noir has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
