Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franklin Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoffrey Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Marshall might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ticon - Back to basic. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Franklin Marshall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Geoffrey Powell!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marshall has taken the fight to the clinch.
Marshall is trying to pull guard but Powell has him pressed against the cage.
Powell lands a shoulder strike.

Powell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Powell does no damage.
Powell looks to land a combination but Marshall avoids it well.
Marshall shoots in but Powell avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Marshall slips a jab and a cross from Powell.
Powell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Marshall has his takedown stuffed
and Powell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franklin Marshall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A combination from Powell does no damage.
Marshall is looking to clinch but Powell is avoiding it.
Powell fails to land with a series of punches.
Marshall shoots for a double leg takedown but Powell sprawls well. He's pushed Marshall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marshall is defended easily by Powell.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Powell keeps the fight on the outside.
Franklin Marshall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marshall fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Powell avoids it really well and circles away.
Powell looks to land a combination but Marshall avoids it well.
Powell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Marshall is looking to clinch but Powell is avoiding it.
Marshall will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Powell looks to score with a jab to the body but Marshall is just out of range.
Marshall tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Powell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Marshall takes one to the side of the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Powell darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Powell lands a nice shot to the body.
Marshall shoots in for a takedown but Powell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Marshall wants to clinch but Powell slips to the side

and Powell counters with a crisp one two that drops Marshall! Powell thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Marshall to his feet! Marshall is in big trouble!


Marshall is rocked!
Powell lands with a right hand.
Oh Marshall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Powell engages and cracks Marshall with a massive lead left hook - Marshall tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Powell is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Geoffrey Powell!
After winning the bout, Geoffrey Powell thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
