Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joel Drummond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King McQueen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joel Drummond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, King McQueen!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQueen throws a right and a left that Drummond avoids nicely.
Drummond throws a head kick but McQueen moves out of range.
Drummond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Drummond tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McQueen is looking to score with low kicks.
Joel Drummond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drummond misses with a wild combination.

McQueen has managed to clinch.
Drummond throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
The referee is keeping an eye on Drummond - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Drummond blocking some punches.

Drummond escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Drummond tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Drummond takes a jab right on the kisser.
Drummond shoots in but no luck this time.

Drummond goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like King McQueen has been cut.
A head kick from McQueen lands but Drummond takes it in his stride.
McQueen closes the distance and clinches up with Drummond, looking for a takedown. McQueen pushes Drummond against the cage but Drummond circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from McQueen as Drummond shoots in.
Drummond looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joel Drummond. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Drummond closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McQueen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

McQueen breaks the clinch.
McQueen throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
McQueen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drummond's waist but Drummond gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McQueen off to one side.

Drummond tries to sprawl but McQueen drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Drummond is breathing heavily.
Drummond is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Drummond won't allow McQueen to pass to mount.
McQueen trying to control the action but Drummond is working from the bottom.

McQueen stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Drummond to get to his feet.

Drummond has taken the fight to the clinch.
Drummond is trying to maintain a safe position but McQueen gets an underhook and turns Drummond into the cage.

McQueen unloads a knee to the mid-section.
McQueen has had enough of the clinch but Drummond keeps him there for the moment.
McQueen is working for takedown but Drummond is calmly controlling the position for now.
McQueen dodges an elbow strike from Drummond.
McQueen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
McQueen tries to pull guard but Drummond won't allow it.

McQueen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McQueen shoots for a takedown but Drummond saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McQueen leaves Drummond with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McQueen throws a sloppy head kick and Drummond moves out of range easily.
McQueen moves to clinch but Drummond breaks away
and Drummond counters with a series of strikes. McQueen will be more careful next time no doubt.
McQueen moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McQueen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

McQueen darts in and clinches Drummond up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Drummond takes a knee to the side of the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King McQueen dominated that round.

Drummond gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Drummond stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McQueen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McQueen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Drummond is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McQueen doesn't manage to clinch there - Drummond circles away.

Drummond has closed the distance and engaged McQueen in a clinch.

McQueen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
McQueen is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Drummond pulls guard effortlessly.
McQueen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Drummond is proving hard to escape from.
McQueen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
McQueen wanted to stand there but Drummond had control of the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Drummond being controlled here, momentarily.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Drummond looking to hit a scissor sweep but McQueen is one step ahead there.

OK we're going to have a standup here. King McQueen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McQueen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McQueen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Drummond has time to react.

McQueen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Drummond pinned against the cage. Drummond gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McQueen is looking to score with low kicks.
McQueen lands a head shot.

Drummond dives in and scores a takedown into McQueen's guard.
Drummond is standing up over McQueen. McQueen looks to escape but Drummond dives into side control.

Drummond is trying to get an arm triangle but McQueen is defending well.
McQueen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Drummond asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Drummond working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McQueen can do anything to dispel that myth.
McQueen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Drummond trying to control the pace.
Drummond seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McQueen for as long as he can get away with.
McQueen is controlling Drummond's trapped leg to prevent Drummond from advancing to side control.
McQueen is trying to control but Drummond passes into side control!

Drummond wants to stand but McQueen has his arm trapped.

McQueen is trying to buck Drummond off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McQueen sneaks out the side door and pushes Drummond away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to King McQueen.
I think McQueen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
