Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Machida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mirko Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Aldo.
Machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Machida walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Machida connects with a high kick.
A head kick by Aldo misses
and Machida counters with a straight right hand.
Aldo shoots in but no luck this time.
Machida getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Aldo shoots for a double leg takedown but Machida sprawls well. He's pushed Aldo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Matt Machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mirko Aldo.
Machida throws a sloppy head kick and Aldo moves out of range easily.
Machida throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aldo blocks a head kick by Machida.
Aldo shoots in for a double leg but Machida sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Machida throws a head kick that misses.
Machida fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Aldo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Aldo looks winded!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Machida throws a nice looking combination but Aldo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Machida throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Aldo stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Machida follows into mount!

Aldo is rocked!

It looks like Mirko Aldo has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Machida get's back to his feet.
A solid body kick from Machida.
Matt Machida is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Machida slaps away a takedown attempt from Aldo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
The fighters circle, before Machida throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Aldo's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Machida lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Matt Machida!
A relieved looking Matt Machida thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
