PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Samson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xtreme Mma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samson comes into the arena with The Venture Brothers Opening Theme blaring out of the sound system. Mma is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I Wont Back Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Samson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Xtreme Mma!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Mma.
Samson misses with a leg kick.
Mma lands an overhand right.

Mma feints and as Samson raises his hands in defense, Mma changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Samson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Samson passes to side control.
Samson wants to control but Mma is keeping him busy.
Mma tries to improve position but can't.
Mma has one of Samson's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Samson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mma has escaped the position, nice work there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mma is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Samson is staying active.
Mma tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Samson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mma is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Samson sees it coming and defends easily.
Samson is pressing down on Mma's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Samson is trying to keep Mma in close.
Mma wants to control from the top but Samson keeps moving.

Samson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Samson wants to sweep but no luck.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mma slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Samson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mma doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mma manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Samson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Samson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mma gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mma postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brock Samson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mma just misses with a punch to the body.
Samson motions for Mma to come forward. Samson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Mma moves out of range as Samson strikes.
Mma bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A punch combination from Mma misses.
Mma fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Samson avoids it really well and circles away.
A bone on bone clash there as Mma blocks the leg kick.
Mma cracks Samson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Samson lands a nice shot to the body.
A nice leg kick lands there from Samson.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Samson cracks the inside of Mma's front leg.
Samson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

It looks like Xtreme Mma has been cut.
Mma is breathing heavily.
Samson chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Brock Samson is winning the standup battle so far.
Samson looks to land a body kick but Mma moved away.
Samson throws a hook to the side of Mma's head but Mma sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Samson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Samson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mma has time to react.

Samson cracks Mma with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Samson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mma to stand back up!

Mma takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Samson throws a monster overhand right that drops Mma! Samson follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Brock Samson gave a mention to Firebird Designs in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
