Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul May (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Deen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul May!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Deen!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
May looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Deen is fending him off so far but May persists. Nope, Deen circles away and we're back to standing.
Deen closes this distance looking for a takedown but May circles away.

Deen gets caught napping as May dives in and scores a takedown. Deen manages to retain guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Deen has a closed guard, preventing May from standing up.
Deen keeping moving, preventing May from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
May is looking to work some ground and pound but Deen has wrist control.
Deen tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Deen seems keen to control May's posture.
May's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Paul May just wasn't active enough.
Deen closes this distance looking for a takedown but May circles away.

May closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Deen successfully pulls guard.
Deen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
May stopping the sweep attempt from Deen.
May trying to control but Deen is working from the bottom.
Deen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Paul May.
Deen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from May.
May dives in and grabs Deen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Deen pushes down on May's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul May. That's going to take a lot out of him.

May gets tackled into the cage by Deen. Deen maintains the clinch.
May tries to work over Deen's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
May lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Deen pulls May into guard.
May knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Deen on the ground.
Deen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
May has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Deen is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Deen will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Deen is trying to keep May in close.
May tries to free his leg and advance position but Deen is retaining full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Deen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but May can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
May is looking to stand up but Deen won't let him.
May is breathing heavily.
May looking to sit in guard and control but Deen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Deen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Deen stands up and waves to May to follow him.
May defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Deen.
Deen shoots for a double leg takedown but May sprawls well. He's pushed Deen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from May.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Deen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from May.
Deen can't get the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Chris Deen will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Deen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and May has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
May misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Deen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with May but May pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Deen scores with a crisp jab that stopped May in his tracks.
May changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Deen tries to avoid it but May manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Deen to the ground. Deen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
May doesn't manage to clinch there - Deen circles away.
May shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Deen pinned against the cage. Deen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul May. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
May misses with a kick to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Deen.

Deen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Deen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says May as he avoids it easily.
May fails with a takedown attempt.
May tries for a takedown but Deen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Deen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
May misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Deen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? May is fending him off so far but Deen persists. Nope, May circles away and we're back to standing.
Deen stuffs the takedown attempt from May. May gets slowly back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
No luck for Deen with that takedown attempt.
May takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Deen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in May's guard.
Deen throwing strikes from guard but May blocks nicely.
Deen controlling from the top position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Deen prevents May from getting back to his feet.

Deen stays in close to May's body and controls the position.
Deen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Deen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Chris Deen has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Deen fails to land the takedown.

Deen forces May back against the cage and clinches.
May tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Deen smiles and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Deen darts in and clinches May up against the cage.

Deen decides to pull guard.
May won't allow Deen to sweep him here.
Deen pulls May in to control the position.
Deen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
May wants to pass the guard but Deen is keeping the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

May got a little sloppy there for a moment and Deen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, May has managed to get both his arms back between Deen's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Deen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Deen keeps May at a distance using the push kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from May.

May tries to sprawl but Deen drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Deen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Deen controlling the action here.
May is looking to get back to full guard here but Deen has managed to pass to side control instead.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Deen working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Deen decides to stand back up. Deen steps back and let's May get back to his feet.
Chris Deen seems to be getting the better of the standup.

May stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and May wants it to stay on the feet.
Deen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but May avoids it really well and circles away.
Deen stuffs the takedown attempt from May. May gets slowly back to his feet.

Deen moves into range and clinches up with May.

Deen manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from May. No joy for Deen on that attempt.
Paul May has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Deen.
May is looking to chop away at Deen's legs.
May avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Deen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A punch combination from Deen misses.
Deen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

May displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Deen.
May tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Deen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with May, pushing him back against the cage.
Deen tries to throw a body punch but May avoids it by throwing Deen back against the cage.
May has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Deen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Deen is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but May is defending well.
May has had enough of the clinch but Deen keeps him there for the moment.
Deen tries to pull guard but May won't allow it.
May tries to pull guard but Deen forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Deen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Deen avoiding damage.

Deen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
May looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Deen is fending him off so far but May persists. Nope, Deen circles away and we're back to standing.
May defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Deen.
May tries to clinch there but Deen circles away.

May drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Deen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in May's guard.
Paul May has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chris Deen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

May looking for a guillotine here but Deen defends easily.

Chris Deen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Deen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
