PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Victor Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masaaki Hatsumi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatsumi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ninja mi Ninja kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Cardoso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaaki Hatsumi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatsumi throws an off balance right hand

and Cardoso counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cardoso.

Cardoso manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hatsumi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hatsumi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cardoso is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cardoso on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cardoso tries to get out of the position.
Cardoso working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hatsumi.
Hatsumi forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hatsumi seems to be working for a kimura but Cardoso defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hatsumi thows a huge punch but Cardoso dodges it nicely.
Hatsumi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hatsumi is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Cardoso is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Masaaki Hatsumi!
