Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gino Abate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Griswold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griswold is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Holiday Road. Clark Griswold has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gino Abate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clark Griswold!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Griswold. Abate does a little dance to reset his feet.
Abate misses with a jab, cross combination.
Abate throws a right and a left that both miss.
Griswold throws a body punch but Abate moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Griswold is defended easily by Abate.
Griswold takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Abate tries to bum rush Griswold with a series of wild strikes but Griswold uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Griswold fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Abate, pushing him back against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Griswold - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Griswold tightens his grip and picks Abate up, before dumping him to the ground. Abate manages to land in guard.
Griswold is pushing down on Abate's leg trying to pass to half guard. Abate is fighting to maintain full guard but Griswold has managed to sneak the leg through.

Griswold is taking a breather. Abate says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Abate is looking for a sweep. Griswold is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Griswold is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Abate pushes Griswold off looking to stand but Griswold dives back in and keeps control.
Abate is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griswold uses his free foot to push down on Abate's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Abate.

Griswold is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Abate has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Griswold wants to control the pace but Abate is squirming around nicely.

Griswold works to advance to full mount. Abate defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clark Griswold dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Horrible takedown by Griswold or perhaps it was just good defense by Abate which made him look bad.
Abate throws a series of punches but Griswold moves out of range.
Griswold has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Griswold shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Griswold was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Griswold cracks Abate with a big right hand but Abate just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Griswold lands a strong strike to the head of Abate. That's dazed him! Griswold looking to finish here. Abate is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Griswold lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
