Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall wants to clinch up but Thomas keeps it at a distance.
Marshall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marshall is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Marshall defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Thomas.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Thomas.
A punch combination from Marshall misses.
Thomas has his takedown stuffed
and Marshall counters with a left and a right that stings Thomas.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Marshall lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Thomas has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Thomas and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown. Marshall tries to sprawl out of it but Thomas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marshall manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Thomas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Marshall wants to clinch.

Thomas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Marshall tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Thomas is in Marshall's guard.

Thomas wants to control from the top but Marshall keeps moving.

Thomas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marshall is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Thomas, into his guard.

Marshall is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ben Marshall wasn't active enough on the ground.
Thomas is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marshall sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Marshall comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Thomas is breathing heavily.

Thomas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marshall fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Marshall lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thomas circles away quickly and effectively.
Marshall dances in with a quick combination. Thomas is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Marshall snaps Thomas's head back. Thomas stumbles backwards against the cage. Marshall steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Thomas's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Thomas just didn't come prepared.
