Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Halperin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halperin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Patterson drives through and clinches with Halperin against the cage.
Halperin tries for a takedown. No joy.

Patterson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Patterson manages to end up in side control.
Patterson tries to advance to mount but Halperin denies him.
Patterson trying to control the position but Halperin is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Halperin is looking to reverse the position.
Patterson throws a strike aimed at the side of Halperin's head but Halperin avoids it well.
Patterson is looking to take a break and control but Halperin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Halperin tries to improve position but can't.

Patterson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Halperin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Halperin tries to improve position but can't.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Patterson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Halperin to the mat! Halperin manages to get full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patterson is pushing down on Halperin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Halperin is fighting to maintain full guard but Patterson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Halperin won't allow Patterson to pass to mount.
Halperin gets full guard.

Halperin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Patterson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Halperin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Patterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Halperin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Halperin is breathing heavily.
Patterson wants to control from the top but Halperin keeps moving.
Patterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Halperin is on top in guard.
Patterson wants to stand up but Halperin is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patterson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Halperin manages to get himself to full guard.
Halperin keeping full guard, as Patterson tries to pass.

Halperin looking for a guillotine here but Patterson defends easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Patterson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Halperin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Halperin pushes a forearm under Patterson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Patterson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
