Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Miroslav Akinfeav (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zawisza Czarny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miroslav Akinfeav!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zawisza Czarny!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Czarny darts in and clinches Akinfeav up against the cage.
Czarny swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Czarny lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Akinfeav pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Akinfeav shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Czarny as he jumps to the side.
Czarny tries to clinch but Akinfeav moves out of range.
Akinfeav avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Akinfeav throws a lazy body kick
and Czarny counters with an outside leg kick.
Akinfeav throws a head kick that misses.
Akinfeav pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Czarny back to the cage. Akinfeav follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Akinfeav misses with a takedown attempt - Czarny sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Czarny tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Akinfeav paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Akinfeav changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Czarny looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Akinfeav is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Czarny is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Akinfeav is looking to take a break and control but Czarny is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Akinfeav tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Akinfeav trying to control the action but Czarny is working from the bottom.
Akinfeav working the ground and pound but Czarny is defending the strikes.

Akinfeav scores with a couple of short elbows.
Akinfeav wants to stand but Czarny has his arm trapped.

Akinfeav is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Czarny knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Czarny tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Akinfeav presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Akinfeav looks for a takedown but Czarny sprawls well.

Akinfeav lands a left and a right that send Czarny crashing to the mat, dazed. Akinfeav thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Zawisza Czarny has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Czarny closes the distance looking to clinch

and Akinfeav counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Akinfeav trying to control the position from guard on top but Czarny is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Akinfeav wants to stand but Czarny is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Miroslav Akinfeav wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Akinfeav fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Czarny sprawls well initially but Akinfeav persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Czarny tries to roll over but Akinfeav keeps him under control.
Akinfeav wants to get back to his feet.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Akinfeav tries to clinch up but Czarny circles away and keeps his distance.

Czarny tries to sprawl but Akinfeav drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Akinfeav prevents Czarny from improving his position.

Czarny avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Akinfeav.
Akinfeav content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Miroslav Akinfeav just wasn't active enough.
Czarny tries to clinch there but Akinfeav circles away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Akinfeav decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Czarny's guard.

Czarny gets tackled into the cage by Akinfeav. Akinfeav maintains the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Czarny tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Czarny softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Akinfeav escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Akinfeav closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Czarny's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miroslav Akinfeav dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Zawisza Czarny's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Akinfeav fails in his attempt to clinch.
Czarny tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Akinfeav manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Akinfeav tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Czarny gets tackled into the cage by Akinfeav. Akinfeav maintains the clinch.
Czarny tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Czarny is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Akinfeav pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Czarny gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Akinfeav tries to stall but Czarny uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Akinfeav works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Czarny can't keep his opponent in guard - Akinfeav advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Akinfeav tries to pass to full mount but Czarny defends it.
Akinfeav works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Akinfeav trying to control but Czarny is having none of it.
Akinfeav tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Akinfeav breaks from Czarny's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Czarny is squirming around, avoiding Akinfeav's attempts to control the action.
Czarny is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Akinfeav sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Czarny is looking to get to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Miroslav Akinfeav showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Akinfeav, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
