The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia throws the kick towards the body but Southworth avoids it.
Maia throws a right and a left that both miss.
Maia throws a nice looking combination but Southworth bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Maia has taken the fight to the clinch.

Southworth breaks from the clinch.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Southworth crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maia - the referee stops the clock and Southworth gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maia. Southworth manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Cory Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maia looks to land a combination. Southworth sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Southworth throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Maia keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Maia connects with a nice cross there... Southworth is looking wobbly and Maia recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Southworth to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Maia jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
