PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Twilight Saga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saga comes to the cage accompanied by You are going to the Twilight of your Career. Jacob Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Twilight Saga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Smith!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks to clinch
and Saga counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Saga counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Saga which made him look bad.

Saga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Saga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Saga is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Smith will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Saga scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Smith to see if he's OK.
Smith wants to control but Saga postures up.
Smith is trying to improve his position.

Saga happy to just control the position for now.
Smith is working to avoid the ground and pound but Saga connects with a decent elbow.
Saga working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Saga cracks Smith with a big right hand but Smith just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Saga content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Saga works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith can't do much from the bottom here.
Saga lands a decent elbow from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee asks Saga politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Saga prefers to stall for the moment though.
Saga lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Smith is rocked!
Saga lands a strong strike to the head of Smith. That's dazed him! Saga looking to finish here. Smith is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Saga lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
