The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Spirit lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Spirit bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rodriguez's head.
Spirit looks to land a right hand but Rodriguez moved out of range.
Rodriguez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Spirit is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rodriguez is defending well for now.
Rodriguez is trying to trip Spirit. He has hold of a leg but Spirit is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rodriguez persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Spirit might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rodriguez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spirit swivels though and keeps the full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Alez Rodriguez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Rodriguez is trying to drag Spirit to the mat but Spirit just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Spirit, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
