PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Burza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allowin Baaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burza comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman. Baaf is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 'Wild Boys' by Duran Duran. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Burza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Allowin Baaf!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burza defending well as Baaf loads up on a big left hand.
Burza looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The crowd cheers as Baaf lands an impressive looking overhand right. Burza doesn't seem phased though.
Baaf throws an off balance right hand
and Burza counters with a left to the body.
Burza waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Baaf.
Burza shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Burza takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Baaf misses with a few strikes there.
Baaf is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Burza.

and Burza counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Baaf tries to roll over but Burza keeps him under control.

Burza drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Baaf manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Burza has Baaf in his guard.
Burza tries to land a sweep but no joy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baaf wants to control from the top but Burza keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Burza will probably get the nod.

Baaf throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Burza on the side of the head.
Burza throws a combination that misses
and Baaf counters with a nice body kick.
Burza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Baaf misses with a jab, cross combination.
Baaf throws a body punch but Burza moves out of range.
Burza lands with a nice combination. Baaf backs away looking to recover.

Burza shoots for a double leg takedown but Baaf sprawls well. He's pushed Burza's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Baaf stalks Burza and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Burza's face. Burza staggers backwards, shaken.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A clash of legs there as Burza blocks the low kick.

Burza throws a left and a right that both miss
and Baaf counters with a straight right hand.
Burza swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Burza displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Burza rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Baaf moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Baaf throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Burza scores with a decent looking hook.
Burza pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Baaf back to the cage. Burza follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Burza.
Good exchange - Baaf coming out on top.

Baaf takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Burza takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Burza walks into a straight right hand from Baaf.
Baaf throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Burza dives in and grabs Baaf's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baaf pushes down on Burza's head and hops out.
Nice straight punches there by Burza. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Burza.
Baaf lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Burza circles away quickly and effectively.
Baaf throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burza sees it coming and avoids it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baaf throws a hook but Burza avoids it easily.
Burza waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Baaf.
Baaf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Allowin Baaf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Burza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Baaf's waist but Baaf gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Burza off to one side.

Allowin Baaf seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Baaf stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Baaf connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Baaf throws a series of punches but Burza avoids them all with ease.
Baaf throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Burza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Baaf's waist but Baaf gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Burza off to one side.

Baaf goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Burza throws a jab when Baaf was well out of range.
Baaf misses with a wild body shot.
Burza looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Burza shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Baaf defends it nicely.
Baaf fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Burza bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Burza tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Burza has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Burza is looking to take a break and control but Baaf is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Baaf is trying to get back to half guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Burza.
I think Burza has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, John Burza was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
