PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vevrin Betlach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Bronze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Betlach comes to the cage accompanied by Higher Ground. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vevrin Betlach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Mr Bronze!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Betlach misses with a straight right.
An inside leg kick lands from Bronze.
Bronze checks the leg kick nicely there.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Betlach.
Bronze throws a series of punches but Betlach avoids them all with ease.
Bronze on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Bronze lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Bronze takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Bronze throws a leg kick that is checked
and Betlach makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Bronze chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Betlach can pounce on him.
Betlach digs a good hook to Bronze's body.
Betlach is looking to slow Bronze down with leg kicks.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Betlach tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bronze was well out of range. Poor timing from Betlach.
Bronze connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Betlach's hands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bronze takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Betlach dips to his left and cracks Bronze with an uppercut!
Betlach connects with an inside leg kick.
Bronze will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bronze attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Bronze takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Betlach scores with a hook to the body. Bronze takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bronze shoots in looking for a takedown. Betlach tries to sprawl out of it but Bronze keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Betlach manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Betlach bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bronze's head backwards.

and Bronze counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Bronze slips under a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bronze throws a leg kick that is checked
and Betlach counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bronze dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bronze tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Betlach paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bronze throws a hook but Betlach avoids it easily.

Bronze decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Betlach has hold of Bronze's hands but Bronze slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Betlach has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bronze is working away from the top position though.
Bronze has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Betlach controlling the position for now.
Bronze is thwarting Betlach's attempts to control the position.

Betlach regains full guard. Nicely done.

Betlach has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bronze can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Betlach is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bronze defends well.

Betlach looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bronze passes into half guard.

Bronze wants to pass to mount but Betlach is defending the position.
Betlach is staying active underneath Bronze, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bronze prevents Betlach from improving his position.
Bronze wants to stand up but Betlach is controlling the position.
Betlach avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bronze.
Betlach wants to control but Bronze is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bronze is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Betlach!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bronze has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Betlach's face.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bronze cracks Betlach with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Betlach is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Betlach tries to reverse the position but Bronze maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mr Bronze will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bronze throws a push kick but Betlach slaps the foot to one side.
Bronze takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Betlach lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bronze's sensitive parts.
Vevrin Betlach is winning the standup battle so far.
Bronze throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bronze slips a jab and a cross from Betlach.
Bronze throws the kick towards the body but Betlach avoids it.
Betlach waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bronze.
Betlach takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Bronze cracks Betlach with a right hand to the side of the head.
Bronze throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Betlach wants to slow Bronze down by chopping away at his legs.

Betlach goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bronze is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

No luck for Bronze with that takedown attempt.
Bronze moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Betlach lands a jab-cross combination.
Bronze punishes Betlach's body with a nice straight punch.
Betlach connects with a leg kick. Bronze looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Vevrin Betlach is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Betlach connects with a solid leg kick.
Betlach pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Betlach is looking to wear down Bronze with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bronze darts in and clinches Betlach up against the cage.
Bronze tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Betlach just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bronze is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Betlach trying to control the position but instead, Bronze has worked for underhooks and has pushed Betlach into the cage.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Vevrin Betlach.

Betlach prevents a body shot from Bronze.

Betlach pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Betlach misses with a body shot.
Betlach just misses with a punch to the body.
Betlach has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bronze finds it's way round the side to connect with Betlach's head.

The fighters circle momentarily. Bronze darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mr Bronze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Betlach thows a left - swing and a miss!
Betlach throws a leg kick
and Bronze connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Betlach lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Bronze moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bronze fails with the takedown.
Vevrin Betlach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr Bronze.
That kick from Betlach tenderised Bronze's leg. Bronze is trying to keep his angry face on.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bronze uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Betlach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bronze thows a body shot but no joy.
Betlach avoids the head kick by Bronze.
Betlach misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vevrin Betlach will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Bronze cracks Betlach with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Bronze's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Bronze tries a head kick but it misses.
Bronze checks a low kick from Betlach.
Bronze fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Betlach takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Betlach uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bronze.
Bronze swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Betlach gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Betlach wants to sweep here but Bronze controlling him for the moment.
Mr Bronze has got the better of the ground game so far.
Betlach avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bronze engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Bronze postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Betlach is on top in guard.

Bronze bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Betlach's guard.

Bronze is working Betlach over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Betlach is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bronze is aware though and is defending well.

Bronze is in close to Betlach's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bronze lands a couple of elbows.

Betlach is really struggling to control Bronze but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Betlach might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Betlach looking for a triangle here. Bronze is fighting it but it looks tight! Betlach pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Bronze is tapping out - this one is all over!
