PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Blanks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Billy Blanks!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Blanks. Those never looked like landing.

Roy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blanks is on top in guard.

Roy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blanks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blanks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Roy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Blanks defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Roy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blanks's guard.

Roy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Blanks manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Roy has Blanks in his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Roy shoots for a takedown but Blanks saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blanks.
Blanks lands a nice looking body kick.
Good leg kick by Blanks there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Roy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blanks circles away quickly and effectively.

Blanks dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Roy. That did some damage!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Roy closes the distance and clinches up with Blanks, looking for a takedown. Roy pushes Blanks against the cage but Blanks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Blanks moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Blanks throws a head kick but Roy moves out of range.

Blanks scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Blanks throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Roy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Blanks fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Blanks scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Roy doesn't seem bothered though.

Roy will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Blanks lands a big head kick that sends Roy to the canvas! Blanks follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
