Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wally Butcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joko Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wally Butcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joko Diaz!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butcher tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Diaz has a takedown stuffed.

Diaz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Butcher quickly recovers to half guard.

Diaz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Butcher sees it coming and defends easily.
Diaz working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Butcher's thigh. Butcher counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Butcher thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Butcher seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Diaz is looking to pass into half guard but Butcher pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Butcher is in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Butcher would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Diaz trying to control the position.
Butcher will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Butcher wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.
Butcher's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Butcher's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Butcher has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Diaz controls Butcher momentarily but Butcher frees himself.
Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Butcher is one step ahead there.
Butcher throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Butcher throws a big right hand that misses.
Butcher won't allow Diaz to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Butcher throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wally Butcher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Butcher thows a leg kick but Diaz checks it
and Diaz counters with a left and a right that stings Butcher.
Crunch! Butcher slams his shin into Diaz's torso.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diaz lands a slapping body shot.
Butcher misses with a wild combination.

Butcher throws a sloppy head kick

and Diaz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Diaz.

Butcher not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Butcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Butcher working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Diaz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joko Diaz.
Butcher misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diaz.
Diaz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Butcher pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Butcher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Diaz avoids a punch combination nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Butcher throws out a loose jab but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joko Diaz will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A punch combination from Butcher misses.
Diaz misses with an uppercut. Butcher saw that one coming.
Diaz slips under a jab.
Butcher looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Diaz blocks a head kick by Butcher.
Butcher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Diaz shoots for a double leg takedown but Butcher sprawls well. He's pushed Diaz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Diaz has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Butcher finds it's way round the side to connect with Diaz's head.
Butcher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Butcher throws a head kick that Diaz semi-blocks.


It looks like Joko Diaz has been cut.
Butcher misses with the combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A looping hook to the body misses from Butcher. Diaz does a little dance to reset his feet.
Butcher misses with a looping left.
Butcher connects with a good right hand that stumbles Diaz. Diaz circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Butcher misses with a head kick.
Wally Butcher is winning the standup battle so far.
Diaz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Butcher.
Diaz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Diaz throws a shot from downtown. Butcher moves away and avoids it.

Butcher misses with a shot to the body

and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Butcher's guard.
Diaz advances position into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Butcher seems a little lost for a moment, as Diaz dominates the positioning.
Diaz working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
A control attempt from Butcher but he's now mounted!
Butcher keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Diaz sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Diaz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Joko Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Diaz stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Butcher throws a lazy head kick
and Butcher takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Butcher shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Butcher swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Butcher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Butcher misses with a combination
and Diaz counters with a big head kick but Butcher shrugs it off.
Butcher throws a sloppy head kick
and Diaz counters with a two punch combo.


Butcher is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Diaz shoots and scores a devastating slam takedown! Butcher is unconscious as Diaz celebrates over his stricken foe!

Joko Diaz really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that [EVO] Koffin Inc. *92% Laundry NOT Available* logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
