The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marselli shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Marselli gets slowly back to his feet.
Marselli tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.

Smith drags the fight down to the ground.

Smith working for a triangle but Marselli defends it easily.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marselli . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Marselli slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marselli has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Marselli wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Smith rushes Marselli and presses him up against the cage.

Marselli pulls guard effortlessly.
Marselli is pulling down on Smith's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith, at least for the moment.

Marselli wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.
Marselli wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Smith shoots in and bounces Marselli off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Smith has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Marselli to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Smith is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Marselli pulls down on the head and he's put Smith to sleep! This one is all over!
