The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howard has Ferguson up against the cage in a clinch.

Howard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ferguson is looking to clinch but Howard is avoiding it.

Howard instigates a clinch.
Howard should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Howard breaks from the clinch.
Ferguson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Howard paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ferguson throws the kick towards the body but Howard avoids it.

and Howard counters by clinching up.

Howard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Howard throws a sloppy head kick and Ferguson moves out of range easily.
Ferguson closes the distance but Howard moves to the side

Ferguson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Howard has him pressed against the cage.

Ferguson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Howard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ferguson moves in looking to clinch but Howard pushes him off.

Howard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Howard gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ferguson doesn't manage to clinch there - Howard circles away.
Ferguson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Howard paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Howard motions for Ferguson to come forward. Howard throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ferguson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ferguson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Howard moves into the clinch.

Ferguson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Howard manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Howard closes the distance and pushes Ferguson back into the cage.
Howard tries to throw a body punch but Ferguson avoids it by throwing Howard back against the cage.

Howard manages to break the clinch.
Ferguson jabs Howard right on the nose. Howard blinks but takes it well.
Howard misses with a body kick.

Howard moves into the clinch successfully.

Howard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Howard throws a lazy right hand but Ferguson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Howard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ferguson.

Howard closes the distance and pushes Ferguson back into the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Ferguson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Howard thows a body shot but no joy.
Ferguson is looking to clinch but Howard is avoiding it.
Ferguson scores with a big combo that sends Howard crashing to the mat! He's still conscious but the referee has seen enough as Howard flops around uncontrollably and he's called an end to the fight! Ferguson jumps onto the cage and throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Gross.
