Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phan Tran Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Travolta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Le's entrance music is Dukes of Hazard Theme Song - Waylon Jennings. A fine choice. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Phan Tran Le!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Travolta!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jorge Garcia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Travolta lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Travolta shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Travolta missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Travolta controlling the pace.
Travolta is looking to take a break and control but Le is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Travolta is taking a breather. Le says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Travolta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Le keeps working.
Travolta throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Le keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Travolta is trying to control. Le wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are battling for position here. Le manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Travolta trying to control but Le is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Travolta.
Le throws a head kick that misses.
Phan Tran Le seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Travolta uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Le.
Le misses with a body shot.

Phan Tran Le is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Travolta misses with a straight right.

Le gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Travolta tries to free his leg and advance position but Le is retaining full guard.
Le keeping moving, preventing Travolta from controlling successfully.
Le is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Travolta is looking for a kimura but Le is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Travolta to get the leverage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Travolta seems to be looking for submissions.
Travolta prevents Le from improving his position.
Travolta takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Travolta has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Travolta throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Le is looking to control Travolta's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Le avoid being mounted?
Travolta is just content to waste time from the top position. Le takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Travolta seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Travolta loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Travolta tries to free his leg and advance position but Le is retaining full guard.
Le looking for a sweep. Not yet Le, not yet.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Travolta seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Travolta was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Travolta moves in looking to clinch but Le pushes him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Travolta closes the distance and clinches up with Le, looking for a takedown. Travolta pushes Le against the cage but Le circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Le misses with a head kick.
Le's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Travolta connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Le scrambles back to his feet.
Travolta on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Le misses with an uppercut. Travolta saw that one coming.
Le throws a nice looking combination but Travolta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Le wants to clinch but Travolta slips to the side

and Travolta counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Travolta.
Le is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Le is trying to break the clinch but Travolta has him pressed against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Le creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Travolta blocks a body shot from Le.
Le blocks an elbow strike.
Le working hard to break the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Travolta looking for a takedown.
Phan Tran Le has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Travolta.
Le throws a knee to the head but misses.
Travolta lands a shoulder strike.

Le is fighting off a takedown attempt but Travolta is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Le to the mat. Le regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Le knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Travolta on the ground.

Travolta is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Le is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Le has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Travolta dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Le misses with a head kick.
Le looks to land a right hand but Travolta moved out of range.
A telegraphed right hand from Le misses the target.
Travolta loads up on a big right hand but Le slips the punch.
Le throws a head kick that misses.
Travolta takes a jab right on the kisser.
Travolta throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Travolta moves out of range of the strikes.
Travolta scores with a decent looking hook.
Le throws a right and a left that both miss.
Le is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Travolta's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Le lands an overhand right.
Le lands with a kick to the temple. Travolta shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Phan Tran Le is winning the standup battle so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Travolta forces Le back against the cage and clinches.
Le tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Le throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Travolta blocks it with crossed arms.
Le with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Le lands an uppercut.
Le tries a knee to the head but Travolta blocks it.
Le softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Le misses with a hook from the clinch.

Travolta manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Travolta is on top in guard.
Le looking for a sweep. Not yet Le, not yet.
Travolta slips nicely into half guard.
Le on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Le tries to get out of the position.
Ground and pound from Travolta.
Travolta is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Le!

Le in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Travolta lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


Le is rocked!
Travolta looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Oh Le is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Travolta postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Le looks a forlorn figure.
Le tries to reverse the position but Travolta maintains control.
Travolta raining down shots from the mount!

Travolta trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Travolta moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Le has worked his arm free - good work by Le!
Le seems to have got his legs back now.
Travolta grinds an elbow into Le's temple.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Travolta is chipping away with strikes.
Check out the look on Travolta's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

A big shot lands for Travolta! That's hurt Le! Will he recover? Travolta fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Travolta!
