Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Drennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Shanks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drennan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Illy-oi!. Shanks is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dethklok - The Cyborg Slayers. Michael Shanks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shanks scores with a nice right hand.
Shanks looks to land a body kick but Drennan moved away.
Drennan throws a lazy right hand but Shanks sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Drennan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Drennan duly obliges.

It looks like Michael Shanks has been cut.
Drennan throws an off balance right hand
and Shanks finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Shanks scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Shanks tries to land a front kick but Drennan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Drennan throws out a loose jab but Shanks uses good head movement to avoid it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Drennan throws a hook to the side of Shanks's head but Shanks sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Shanks bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Drennan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Shanks thumps Drennan with a low kick.
Shanks throws a leg kick but Drennan checks it.
Drennan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Drennan feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Shanks's calf.
Shanks paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Shanks misses with a body kick.
Drennan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Drennan lands with a good body shot.
Drennan scores with a nice strike.
Crunch! Shanks slams his shin into Drennan's torso.
Shanks keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shanks throws a leg kick which misses Drennan's front leg but catches the back leg as Drennan tries to avoid it.
Shanks connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shanks takes a swing at Drennan's ribcage but misses.
Some bone on bone action there as Shanks checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Drennan throws a sloppy head kick and Shanks moves out of range easily.

Shanks wants to clinch up but Drennan keeps it at a distance.
Drennan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
That kick from Shanks tenderised Drennan's leg. Drennan is trying to keep his angry face on.
A chopping leg kick lands by Shanks.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shanks, right into the meat.
Drennan throws the kick towards the body but Shanks avoids it.
Shanks getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Gary Drennan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drennan lands a body shot.
Drennan scores with a sloppy right hand. Shanks should have avoided that one.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shanks throws a low kick but it's checked well by Drennan.

Shanks jabs Drennan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Shanks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Drennan misses the shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Drennan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Shanks has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

That has opened up Michael Shanks's cut even more.
Shanks is aggressively charging in as Drennan backs up avoiding any damage. Drennan tosses out a jab and Shanks runs right into it face first! Shanks is out cold! Drennan dropped down on all fours and is barking in Shanks's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
