The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tuomela is trying to defend but Santana finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Santana is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tuomela sees it coming and defends easily.
Tuomela makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tuomela.
Tuomela looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Tuomela is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Raimo Tuomela has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Santana closes the distance and pushes Tuomela back into the cage.
Santana is working for takedown but Tuomela is calmly controlling the position for now.
Tuomela manages to break the clinch.
Tuomela scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Diego Santana has been cut.

Tuomela throws a series of punches but Santana moves out of range.
Tuomela drops Santana with a nice combination! Tuomela dives into Santana's guard, looking to finish!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tuomela seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Oh Santana is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Santana controls Tuomela momentarily but Tuomela frees himself.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Santana manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Santana can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tuomela is looking to escape.
Santana jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Tuomela is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Tuomela and Santana has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Tuomela is not content to let Santana control the position.
Santana throws a strike aimed at the side of Tuomela's head but Tuomela avoids it well.

Tuomela gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The two fighters roll across the mat, with Tuomela trying to push Santana off... Tuomela taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
