PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Correa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bouraka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Correa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Bouraka!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Correa. Bouraka shrugs it off though.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Correa!
Bouraka takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Correa.
Bouraka throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Correa's waist but Correa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bouraka off to one side.
Correa misses with a two punch combination.
Correa misses with the combination.
Bouraka fails to land the takedown.
Correa throws a head kick that Bouraka semi-blocks.
Correa connects with a high kick.
Correa throws a nice looking combination but Bouraka bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bouraka fails with a takedown attempt.
Eric Correa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bouraka.
Correa misses with a double jab.
Correa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bouraka moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bouraka has a takedown stuffed.
Correa is looking to clinch.
Bouraka misses with a takedown attempt - Correa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Correa. Bouraka shrugs it off though.

Left hook, right uppercut from Correa.
Correa throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Correa scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Correa lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Nice sprawl there from Bouraka as Correa shoots in.

Bouraka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bouraka won't allow Correa to get back to his feet.
Correa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bouraka looks gassed!
Correa wants to get back to his feet but Bouraka is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bouraka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bouraka working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Correa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Correa tries to get out of the position.
Bouraka looking to pass the guard.
Bouraka slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bouraka throwing shots but Correa is blocking nicely.
Correa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bouraka on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Correa plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Left hook, right uppercut from Correa.
Bouraka takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Correa throws a front kick that sends Bouraka stumbling back into the cage.
Correa lands a high kick!
Correa thuds his shin into the meat of Bouraka's side.
Correa scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Correa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Correa connects with a high kick.
Bouraka fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Correa moves into range and clinches up with Bouraka.
Correa wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Correa wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bouraka misses with a body punch.
Correa wants to get back to striking at distance but Bouraka won't allow it.
Correa gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bouraka.
Correa is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bouraka is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Correa pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bouraka prevents Correa from breaking the clinch.
Correa is looking to break free of the clinch but Bouraka has double underhooks.

Correa can't break the clinch.

Bouraka gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Correa regains guard.
Correa wants to sweep here but Bouraka controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Correa dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Correa lands a high kick!
Eric Correa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danga de danga de dang - Correa scores with a four punch combination!
Correa goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Bouraka steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Correa. That one must have hurt.
Bouraka looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Correa is fending him off so far but Bouraka persists. Nope, Correa circles away and we're back to standing.
Correa lands a head kick. Bouraka smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Bouraka shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bouraka swats away the attempt to clinch by Correa.
Eric Correa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Correa lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Correa throws a right and a left that both miss.

Correa darts in and clinches Bouraka up against the cage.
Correa is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Correa stops a takedown attempt from Bouraka.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bouraka drops down looking for an ankle pick but Correa pulls his leg out and moves away.

Correa gets underhooks to prevent Bouraka's takedown attempt.
Correa wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Correa is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Bouraka is keeping busy.
Correa jumps guard but Bouraka stands there with Correa around his waist. Correa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bouraka is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Correa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bouraka has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Correa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bouraka keeps control of Correa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Correa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bouraka crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Correa - the referee stops the clock and Bouraka gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Correa. Bouraka manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Bouraka takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Correa scores with a one two! Bouraka had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Correa lands a nice looking kick to the body. Bouraka takes a step back to recover.
A punch combination from Correa misses.
A left and a right from Correa both land. Nice combination.
Correa shoots in looking for a takedown. Bouraka tries to sprawl out of it but Correa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bouraka manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Crunch! Correa slams his shin into Bouraka's torso.
Correa fails with a takedown attempt.

Bouraka changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Correa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bouraka landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Bouraka fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bouraka is chipping away with strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bouraka tries to move to mount but Correa blocks the move with his legs.
Bouraka working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Bouraka tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bouraka has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Correa tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bouraka is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Correa has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Correa is trying to buck Bouraka off.
Correa tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Bouraka somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Bouraka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bouraka missing with strikes.
Bouraka throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Bouraka throwing wild punches that miss their target.

Bouraka is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Correa won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Bouraka off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Billy Bouraka!
