PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damon Wilcott Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damon Wilcott Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Reed!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilcott Jr blocks a head kick by Reed.
Reed circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wilcott Jr shoots in but Reed avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Reed throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Reed manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wilcott Jr on his heels. He'll look to pass Wilcott Jr's guard now, I'm sure.
Wilcott Jr tries to strike from the bottom.
Reed is stalling in the full guard.
Wilcott Jr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wilcott Jr will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ryan Reed.

Reed shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wilcott Jr is trying to defend but Reed finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Reed works his way into side control.

Reed is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wilcott Jr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wilcott Jr is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Reed off and has taken his back!

Wilcott Jr is trying to stick to Reed's back but Reed is turning into Wilcott Jr. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wilcott Jr's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Reed.
Reed tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilcott Jr is retaining full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Reed's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Reed working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Reed looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Reed tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilcott Jr is retaining full guard.

Reed content to stall in guard here.
Wilcott Jr has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Reed has passed into side control.
Wilcott Jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reed on the ground.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Reed is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wilcott Jr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Wilcott Jr on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Wilcott Jr tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Wilcott Jr's face as Reed controls the position.

Reed stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Reed gets a clinch.

Reed manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Reed working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilcott Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilcott Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Reed dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wilcott Jr throws a nice inside leg kick.
Wilcott Jr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reed circles away.
Wilcott Jr dives in and grabs Reed's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reed pushes down on Wilcott Jr's head and hops out.
Wilcott Jr tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Reed counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Reed gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wilcott Jr regains guard.

Reed stands and steps away. Wilcott Jr gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Reed throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wilcott Jr makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Reed decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wilcott Jr's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Wilcott Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reed looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wilcott Jr isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Reed stacks Wilcott Jr on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Reed!

Reed decides to stand back up. Reed steps back and let's Wilcott Jr get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reed throws a sloppy head kick and Wilcott Jr moves out of range easily.

Reed has managed to clinch.

Wilcott Jr is fighting off a takedown attempt but Reed is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wilcott Jr to the mat. Wilcott Jr regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wilcott Jr not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Reed wanted to stand there but Wilcott Jr had control of the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wilcott Jr is looking to clinch.
Reed stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wilcott Jr.
Wilcott Jr moves to clinch but Reed breaks away

and Reed counters with a single leg into guard. Wilcott Jr didn't expect that.

Reed is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Reed is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Reed passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Reed has an Americana. Wilcott Jr didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Reed is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Reed hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
